allergy free gluten free brownies

Raw Cacao Sweet Potato Brownies (ALLERGY-FREE) with Avocado Mousse Frosting

Who doesn't like a deliciously rich chocolate (allergy-free) brownie?

I'll be honest, I don't eat sweets often and when I do, you better believe chocolate is going to be involved.  It just be chocolate though– those artificial flavored, milk chocolate or cane syrup, chemical ridden bars just don't cut it. Nope, this girl needs the REAL stuff, you know that rich, raw, bitter organic straight from the source, mama cacao chocolate.  There is a reason the Mayans used this sacred plant for currency once you have it, you'll never go back.  It's this miracle plant that inspired me to make these delicious ‘Raw Cacao Sweet Potato Brownies with Avocado Mousse Frosting.'

The past 21 days I've been paying particular attention to my gut health eating certain foods designed to help rebalance my gut microbiome. Well, today's my birthday and it's day 21 of this cleanse which means raw cacao is on the list of things I can eat! So I decided to get inspired and treat myself to a little bit of this divinity, happy birthday to me!

Allergy free raw cacao brownies

The inspiration

I wanted to stay true to my intention of cleansing and really only use ingredients that were on my ‘approved list.'  This means I can only have specific fruits and veggies that are higher in glucose vs fructose and no GRAINS!

I also have the intention of creating a brownie that is ALLERGY-FREE so that EVERYONE can enjoy the goodness.

Well, after many searches on Pinterest I created my own unique recipe using allergy-free whole foods.

To be honest, these bad boys turned out more delectable than I could have ever imagined. In fact, I believe they turned out so good, that if you set them on a plate next to your normal everyday brownies, the chances that someone would guess they were full of health would be quite slim. In all honesty, I believe they would even take the cake for some– especially those raw cacao lovers.

So, what are the magical ingredients in these little bad boys?

What's the best part about making brownies? Licking the bowl of course!

I invite you to lick away and see if it's sweet enough for your taste buds.

I don't do sweets often and do prefer that true bitter dark chocolate taste. Your taste buds may be different you may want to add some extra dark chocolate chips or maple syrup to sweeten it up. In this taste test, there were 5 chefs, 1 little girl and 3 others who enjoyed these little delectables all who enjoyed this chocolate morsel not feeling the need to add any more sugar.

Notes on health

If you are used to eating, processed, packaged foods, foods high in refined sugar and other artificial sweeteners, your palate becomes desensitized and one often needs more intense flavors and sugar in order to feel satisfied.

The beautiful thing is once you are on the health track and you begin cutting out all the fake stuff, your palate begins to change and you start to notice and appreciate the subtle flavors of foods.

I welcome you to the road of health.

It's a beautiful journey and once you've begun this journey it's hard to go back. In the end, your body will thank you. You'll have more energy, vitality, mental clarity than ever before, not to mention you can EAT AMAZING FOODS and feel amazing.

Some people think the road to health is restrictive, I chose to see it as expansive.

At the end of the day, life is just our perception which we believe to be true.

With lots of cacao love & light,
